Christopher Wright received his BS in civil engineering from Clarkson University, located in Potsdam, New York. Specializing in structures in college and wanting to work for a company that designed tall buildings, Chris moved to Atlanta in pursuit of new, more challenging opportunities. After a short time in Atlanta, Chris started his professional career by securing a position at Cable Concrete Structures. During his tenure with Cable Concrete, Chris learned post-tensioned concrete design and was able to observe and participate in the operations of a design-manufacturing company.

Being drawn to the design of taller buildings in hurricane prone regions and wanting to expand his post-tension concrete design capabilities, Chris moved to Sarasota, Florida and was hired by Jenkins & Charland Consulting Engineers as an Engineer Intern. Chris eventually was promoted to Engineering Manager in the Sarasota office of TRC worldwide, formerly Jenkins & Charland, Inc.

Unable to satisfy his desire of owning and operating his own company, Chris made the difficult decision to leave J&C and rejoin an old friend and colleague Doug Ball in 1999 as an owner of db structural designs. The company’s name changed along the way to reflect corporate restructuring and is presently, b&w structural designs, llc.

In 2010 B&W supplemented its new construction division with its newly formed historic preservation and strengthening division.  "After overseeing the design and construction of new towers for over 20 years, I thought it was important to utilize new engineering technology on buildings twice my age to extend their serviceability, while maintaining their exterior character and charm.  Sometimes it's just better to use what we have instead of always trying to build something new."

Reacting to the demands of the industry, Chris made the strategic move in 2011 to relocate the main office from its Sarasota home of 12 years to Tampa Florida.

Today, B&W is a well-diversified structural engineering company and is making its presence known as one of the strongest engineering firms in the region.
